Silent book is a special genre. Its author tells the story using only pictures, and writes it together with the reader: one begins, the other continues. Textless books can be used in different ways: they can be told in words or looked at in silence. The pictures evoke feelings, dreams and memories. They portray situations and emotions that are very difficult to express in words. Pictures guide and help us to write our own stories.
“For me, the image of the bather represents the process by which a person dissolves along with their memories, while the endless water symbolizes passing away and returning to the cycle of life. On the one hand, I wanted to represent this process. On the other hand, while I was drawing, it also occurred to me, as if I were sending my grandmother back to her ancestors, and myself as well, (since sooner or later me, the narrator, will be next in line).”
