A te világod, az én világom. Egy burok, amely egyszerre véd és kirekeszt. Képesek vagyunk beengedni egymást? Hol ér össze a két világ?
Ezeket a kérdéseket teszi fel Máray Mariann könyve, amely többek között az autizmus burkában élők különleges világát próbálja megmutatni pusztán a képek erejével.
A csendeskönyv különleges műfaj.

”Your world, my world. A shell that both protects and excludes. Are we able to let each other in? Where do the two worlds meet?”
On the unusual and bold black cover of Mariann Máray’s wordless picture book, we find a seemingly mysterious combination: numbers, a small grayish moth-like creature, all beneath a glass dome. We sense that we are seeing something that transcends itself, something we must interpret symbolically.
The endpaper also communicates: eight types of moths form its pattern. They, too, are lined up against a black background, with their quiet, motionless, restrained beauty. So, why them, of all things?
Unlike butterflies – Papilionidae – that flutter and dance in the light, moths and other nocturnal moths wait for darkness to take flight. Their colors and patterns reveal themselves only in special situations. I bet many people have no idea that moths are interesting and beautiful too!
Silent book is a special genre. Its author tells the story using only pictures, and writes it together with the reader: one begins, the other continues. Textless books can be used in different ways: they can be told in words or looked at in silence. The pictures evoke feelings, dreams and memories. They portray situations and emotions that are very difficult to express in words. Pictures guide and help us to write our own stories.
”The book can be seen as a work aimed at raising awareness about those on the autism spectrum, but we can also recognize the feelings of anyone who has been isolated due to any other form of difference. The protagonist – bravely, as befits his totem animal – ventures out into the outside world again and again despite his difficulties, and finds those things that provide security, which help him endure the state of vulnerability without a protective shell. And the result of this courageous risk-taking brings him the treasure of finding a companion. Created in the book workshop of Csimota Publishing, this work, with illustrations by Mariann Máray, masterfully guides us through the labyrinth of emotions and states of mind.” (Boglárka Paulovkin HUBBY YEAR CHILDREN’S BOOK AWARD 2025 Illustration category, Laudation)
